Spain - Espana
Like every World Cup of late, Spain is one of the favorites going into South Africa 2010. The Spaniards are loaded with talent and are hoprful not to fall victim to their usual World Cup soccer faltering.
Australia
Australia comes into the World Cup as FIFA's top ranked team from Asia ranked #21. The Socceroos have the experience to give Germany and Ghana tough matches, but may not yet be ready to move forward from such a difficult group.
Argentina
With talent like Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero, Argentina can definitely take home the cup this year. One has to wonder if Diego Maradona is capable of sanely leading his squal to the final, but they will be a contender.
Brazil - Brasil
How can anyone be confident in Group G? Will Brazil up against Portugal and the Ivory Coast, be able to make it through? It would be a small surprise if they didn't, but it's hard to believe that this group will go as planned. Kaka and Lius Fabiano will be two of the most talented players in the whole cup, but is this enough?
Italy - Italia
Italy comes to South Africa looking to defend its World Cup soccer championship. The team looks a little older, but still has plenty of talent. With one of the world's top goalkeepers, Gianluigi Buffon, Italy definitely could be playing for a repeat title.
England
One has the sense that the pressure is on England. With the first game against the pesky Americans and a relatively easy group, England likely feels that they should be an easy lock for the second round. England likely feels good about the Americans too, recently beating them 2-0 in a tune-up.
